Planning Policy Statement 22 – Renewable Energy As you may be aware a number of Local Authorities are now applying the Government’s “Planning Policy Statement 22 – Renewable Energy” for all planning applications over the threshold which requires renewable energy systems to be incorporated into developments. The thresholds above which the policy applies are:
· Non-residential developments 1000m2 and above or having an area of 1 hectare and above.
· Residential developments of 10 units or more or covering an area of 0.5 hectare or more.
Pettit Singleton Associates are able to produce these ‘Renewable Energy Statements’ to satisfy the planning requirements and if required assist in the implementation and design of the installations. The requirements of PPS22 also require that documentary evidence be provided at the end of scheme to prove that the initiatives proposed in the ‘Renewable Energy Statements’ have been installed. This is something that PSA are also able to ensure. PSA are registered as ‘Low Carbon Consultants’ under the CIBSE Scheme and we are also Accredited Building Regulations Part L Consultants and able to carry out and self-certify calculations to demonstrate Approved Document Part L Compliance.
Building Simulation Software Due to the changes in Building Regulations, we are having to carry out more complex building analysis, and subsequently have the capability of being able to carry out building simulations to examine room heat losses/gains, summer overheating, overheating frequency (to meet Part L Requirements), peak design and building energy requirements. With the simulation package we can carry out more detailed calculations for complex natural ventilated and mixed ventilation systems including controlled opening of windows.
More detailed plant simulations can be carried out with more accurate annual energy consumption, fuel cost and CO2 emissions, and we are able to carry out Part L calculations with improved accuracy and on more complex developments.
Our website has been redesigned and is due to go live mid July, and you will notice our new logo and letterhead format. With our 20th year fast approaching we felt it was suitable time for a change, therefore all stationery will be following suit ……… we hope you all approve!
